Townese is a hyperlocal community event platform operated by Townese LLC, a Washington state limited liability company ("Townese," "we," "us," or "our"). Townese connects verified residents of a specific community to discover and share local in-person events.
By creating an account or using Townese, you agree to these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree, do not use the platform. These Terms constitute a binding legal agreement between you and Townese LLC.
Residency requirement. Townese is currently available exclusively to verified residents of Mercer Island, Washington (zip code 98040). By signing up, you represent that the information you provide is accurate to the best of your knowledge, including that you currently reside at the address you provide.
Age requirement. You must be at least 18 years old to create an account.
Real identity. You must use your real full name. A profile photo is optional but encouraged. Pseudonyms, aliases, and impersonation are prohibited.
Verification. Account activation is subject to manual review and approval by Townese. We reserve the right to approve or deny any account at our reasonable discretion. Approval is not guaranteed.
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your password and for all activity that occurs under your account. Notify us immediately at katie@townese.org if you suspect unauthorized access.
You may not share your account with others or create multiple accounts.
You agree not to use Townese to:
Events posted on Townese must be genuine, in-person events taking place on Mercer Island or directly serving the Mercer Island community. You are solely responsible for the accuracy of events you post.
Townese does not verify the accuracy of event listings and is not responsible for events that are cancelled, changed, or misrepresented by the posting user.
You retain ownership of content you post (event descriptions, photos). By posting, you grant Townese a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, display, reproduce, and technically process that content solely as necessary to operate, improve, and provide the Townese platform.
You represent that you have the right to post any content you submit and that it does not infringe any third-party rights.
The Townese name, logo, wordmark, and platform design are the intellectual property of Townese LLC. The TOWNESE trademark is the subject of a pending USPTO application (Intent to Use, Classes 42 and 45). Unauthorized use is prohibited.
Townese may remove any content, or suspend or terminate any account, that violates these Terms or that we reasonably believe may harm the safety, integrity, or trust of the community. We may act with or without notice depending on the severity of the issue.
We aim to apply these rules consistently and in good faith to maintain a safe and trusted community environment. Users may contact us regarding moderation decisions, and we may review such decisions where appropriate. Moderation decisions are made at Townese's reasonable discretion.
Users may flag events they believe are suspicious or inappropriate. Flags are private and visible only to Townese administrators.
Your use of Townese is also governed by our Privacy Policy, incorporated here by reference.
Townese is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free service.
Townese is not an organizer of any events listed on the platform and does not supervise, control, or assume responsibility for any event or its participants.
Townese is not responsible for the conduct of any user, the accuracy of any event listing, or any harm arising from attendance at any event discovered through the platform.
To the maximum extent permitted by Washington law, Townese LLC will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of or relating to your use of the platform. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Townese LLC's total liability for any claim arising out of or relating to these Terms or the platform shall not exceed one hundred dollars ($100) or, if applicable, the amount required by law.
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Townese LLC from any third-party claims, damages, liabilities, and reasonable expenses arising out of content you post or your violation of these Terms.
Any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the platform shall be resolved by binding arbitration administered under the American Arbitration Association Consumer Arbitration Rules, conducted in King County, Washington. Townese will pay filing fees where required by applicable law or by the AAA rules that apply to consumer disputes. You waive any right to a jury trial or to participate in a class action. Notwithstanding the foregoing, either party may seek injunctive relief in a court of competent jurisdiction.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Washington, without regard to conflict of law principles.
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify registered users of material changes by email. Continued use of the platform after changes constitutes acceptance.
